FEG & TEM Rebuilds

APT offers service rebuilds of select cathodes, cathode assemblies, and field emission gun (FEG) modules. All assemblies and modules are realigned and tested prior to being returned to the customer.

New, aligned, and tested ZrO/W emitters

Inspection and cleaning

  • Disassembly and inspection of all parts, apertures, and ceramic/metal bonds

  • Polishing and cleaning

Replacement of FEG or TEM emitter

  • Replacement of used tips with new ZrO/W

  • Installation of emitter to original geometrical specifications

  • Evacuate refurbished module, bake-out, outgas

  • High voltage condition gun module and flange

  • Obtain new filament I(V) data, as well as record extraction voltages for several angular intensity values

  • All assemblies and modules are realigned and tested prior to being returned to the customer
